Cake smash portraits are a joyful and playful way to celebrate your baby's first birthday while capturing all the curiosity, personality, laughter—and wonderfully messy moments—that make this milestone so much fun. Each session is thoughtfully designed around your little one, with a customized color palette, décor, props, outfit options, and coordinating smash cake brought together to create a beautiful and cohesive celebration.

DESIGNED JUST FOR YOUR LITTLE ONE

Cake smash sessions are one of my favorite milestones to photograph because no two are ever quite the same. Some babies dive right in, while others carefully investigate every crumb before deciding whether cake is actually a good idea. However your little one reacts, I let them take the lead and capture all of the expressions and personality along the way.

As a mother of two and a photographer with more than a decade of experience working with babies and children, I keep sessions relaxed, playful, and centered around your child. The best part for parents? I take care of the details. Your personalized setup and coordinating smash cake are prepared before you arrive, and outfit options are available from my curated client closet. All you need to do is bring your baby and enjoy the experience.

Cake smash sessions are photographed outdoors using beautiful natural light and can be designed around a traditional theme, favorite colors, or a more simple and timeless aesthetic.

Whether we create something whimsical and playful or beautifully simple, my goal is to design a set that complements your child while keeping the focus on the most important part of the photographs—their personality.

WHEN TO BOOK

If you're hoping to use your portraits for first birthday invitations, party décor, or displays, I recommend scheduling your cake smash approximately 3–4 weeks before the celebration to allow plenty of time for editing and printing. If you don't need the photographs before the party, your session can be scheduled closer to your baby's actual birthday.

Because each cake smash is individually planned and customized, early booking is recommended to provide enough time to design your set, coordinate your cake, and secure your preferred session date. From that first curious taste to the frosting-covered smiles at the end, these are the wonderfully imperfect moments that make turning one so memorable.
